Pliocene Albizia (Fabaceae) from Jharkhand, eastern India: reappraisal of its biogeography during the Cenozoic in Southeast Asia

چکیده

Albizia, a diverse tree genus, occupies monsoonal warm humid rain forests in tropical and subtropical regions. We recovered well-preserved compound fossil leaf two fruits of Albizia (Fabaceae) from the latest Neogene (Rajdanda Formation: Pliocene) sediments Jharkhand Chotanagpur Plateau, eastern India. On basis architectural features leaf, new species is established as A. mahuadanrensis Hazra, Hazra Khan, n. sp., characterised by bipinnate, having rachis bearing opposite, asymmetrically ovate to sub-rhomboid leaflets, pulvinus on leaflet petiolule brochiodromous secondary veins. Based both morphological anatomical characters fruits, palaeoprocera sp. erected, flattened broadly linear shaped, wingless fruits; ovate-elliptic shaped seed chambers ellipsoidal seeds one series; irregularly polygonal rectangular epidermal cells with oblique end walls randomly oriented, scattered, paracytic stomata. Analysis occurrences indicates that legume taxon was common India elsewhere. The present-day distribution closely affiliated modern taxa environment during time deposition. also review biogeographic history other Asian countries.

Early hominin biogeography in Island Southeast Asia.

Island Southeast Asia covers Eurasia's tropical expanse of continental shelf and active subduction zones. Cutting between island landmasses, Wallace's Line separates Sunda and the Eastern Island Arc (the Arc) into distinct tectonic and faunal provinces. West of the line, on Sunda, Java Island yields many fossils of Homo erectus. East of the line, on the Arc, Flores Island provides one skeleton ...

Biogeography of Drosophila (Diptera: Drosophilidae) in East and Southeast Asia

The causes of high biological diversity in biodiversity hotspots have long been a major subject of study in conservation biology. To investigate this matter, we conducted a phylogeographic study of five Drosophila (Diptera: Drosophilidae) species from East and Southeast Asia: Drosophila albomicans Duda, D. formosana Duda, D. immigrans Sturtevant, D. melanogaster Meigen, and D. simulans Sturteva...

The avian fossil record in Insular Southeast Asia and its implications for avian biogeography and palaeoecology

Excavations and studies of existing collections during the last decades have significantly increased the abundance as well as the diversity of the avian fossil record for Insular Southeast Asia. The avian fossil record covers the Eocene through the Holocene, with the majority of bird fossils Pleistocene in age. Fossil bird skeletal remains represent at least 63 species in 54 genera and 27 famil...
